Claude + LinkedIn

Can Claude access LinkedIn?

Not by itself. Claude’s web search cannot read LinkedIn: the site refuses automated visitors and keeps everything useful behind a login. Add an MCP connector to your own LinkedIn account and Claude gets tools instead of a browser — and because it chains tools well, it tends to research a person across several reads before it proposes anything.

Web search will not get you there

Claude can search the web, and that is genuinely useful for public pages. LinkedIn is not one: it blocks automated visitors and requires authentication for profiles, search and every conversation. What comes back is a login wall. No phrasing of the prompt changes that, because the refusal is on LinkedIn’s side.

MCP is the part that changes the answer

Claude speaks MCP natively, so adding a connector is a settings step, not an integration project: one server URL, one OAuth sign-in, and the LinkedIn tools appear. From then on Claude acts on the account you authorized — search, profiles, your network, conversations, invitations, posts and comments — with the visibility you have when you log in.

Where Claude is genuinely good at this

The difference with a one-shot integration is the loop. Ask it to prepare a follow-up and it opens the profile, reads the conversation, checks whether an invitation is already pending, notices you spoke last, and tells you there is nothing to send — instead of producing a message you would have regretted. Reading widely before writing narrowly is exactly the behaviour you want on someone’s real account.

“Prepare my follow-up with Ada: check what we already said before drafting anything.”
“Who do I know at this company, and what did we last talk about?”

What stays out of reach

Claude cannot exceed your account: nothing private about people you are not connected to, no Sales Navigator search without that seat, no premium data your account does not have. Writes are explicit actions, ambiguity blocks them — two people matching a name means nothing is sent — and a daily budget of about a hundred actions applies, reads included.

Same account, other clients

The connection belongs to your account rather than to Claude. The same connected LinkedIn is reachable from ChatGPT, Cursor, an n8n workflow or a Make scenario without authorizing anything a second time — useful when you research in Claude but run recurring jobs somewhere else.

Common questions

Can Claude access LinkedIn?

Not through web search — LinkedIn blocks automated visitors and requires a login. Through an MCP connector to your own LinkedIn account, yes: Claude gets tools for search, profiles, network, conversations, invitations, posts and comments.

Does Claude need my LinkedIn password?

No. You sign in on a hosted page during the connection, and Claude only ever receives tools. The credential is never placed in a prompt, an argument or a response.

Can Claude send LinkedIn messages and invitations?

Yes, where the action is supported on your account. The recipient is resolved first, and if several people could match, nothing is sent and Claude asks which one.

Which Claude products support this?

Any that accept a custom MCP connector — claude.ai, the desktop app and Claude Code. It is the same server and the same connected account across all of them.

Is my account at risk?

You act as yourself, at a human pace: serialized calls, a short delay between them and a daily budget including reads. There is no headless browser signed into your account, which is the usual cause of restrictions.

How LinkedIn works with Nilyo

Connection. Secure hosted sign-in (your LinkedIn credentials go to LinkedIn, never to the agent). Sales Navigator and Recruiter are detected automatically when your account has them.

What your agent can do. People and company search, profile lookup from a name or URL, your network and invitations, private conversations (classic, Sales Navigator, Recruiter inboxes), posts, comments and reactions, job postings and applicants, Recruiter projects.

Pacing and safety. About 100 actions per day per account, profile views and searches included; calls are serialized so an agent can never run LinkedIn requests in parallel.

  • Profile URLs are resolved to stable profile IDs before any action.
  • Invitations carry an optional note of up to 300 characters.
  • Private or restricted profiles return an explicit “not accessible” result instead of a retry loop.
