Install and authenticate
On n8n Cloud, search Nilyo in the nodes panel and drop it on the canvas: the package is a verified community node, so there is nothing to install. On self-hosted n8n, add n8n-nodes-nilyo from Settings then Community nodes. Create a personal token in Nilyo under Agent access and store it in a credential named Nilyo API.
What the workflow can do
List conversations, read a thread in order, read the profile behind a message, send a reply, and work with followers and following. The inbox is where the value is: that is where customers ask about price, stock and delivery, and where answers are late because nobody watches the app all day.

Read the sender before drafting
Instagram messages are short and ambiguous. A workflow that drafts from the text alone will answer a shipping question with a price list. Chain a profile read on the sender first — one extra node, and it is the difference between a useful answer and an embarrassing one.
Inbound as a trigger
The Nilyo Trigger registers an event destination when the workflow is published and removes it when unpublished, so a new DM starts the workflow instead of a schedule polling the account. That matters here because writes are budgeted at a hundred actions per day per account, and polling spends that budget finding nothing.
Draft, then send
On a public-facing inbox the sane pattern is a workflow that drafts and a human who approves — a Wait node with an approval link, or a message to your own channel. Auto-replying to everything is how a brand account gets restricted, and the daily budget will not save you from a bad answer sent politely.
Common questions
Do I need a Business or Creator account?
No. That requirement belongs to Meta’s Graph API. Nilyo connects the account you already use, whatever its type.
Can an AI Agent node use it?
Yes, attached as a tool, provided the tool variant of the node type is used — with the plain type the editor imports the node and silently drops the agent connection.
Can it post or comment?
Where the connected account supports it, yes, alongside the direct inbox.
What are the limits?
A hundred actions per day per account for writes, with serialized and spaced calls, returning an explicit error at the ceiling rather than retrying.
How Instagram works with Nilyo
Connection. Secure hosted sign-in on your own Instagram account; a verification code may be requested by Instagram on the provider side, never in the chat.
What your agent can do. Direct messages (read, reply, send), profile lookup, followers and following lists, your own profile.
Pacing and safety. About 100 actions per day per account, calls serialized.
