How to connect
Add an MCP Client module to the scenario — or an MCP tool from an AI Agent’s configuration — create a connection and set the server URL to https://nilyo.com/mcp with OAuth authentication. A browser window opens to authorize, the same Nilyo sign-in ChatGPT and Claude use, with no Make-specific account to create.
The scaffolding you skip
Business or Creator account, a linked Facebook Page, app review for messaging permissions, a reply window. For a shop or a creator that is a lot of setup before a first useful scenario, and it still leaves personal accounts out entirely.
Read the sender before you answer
Instagram DMs are short. Whether one deserves a price, a shipping answer or nothing depends on who sent it, so chain a profile read on the sender before any draft module. One extra call, and it is the difference between a relevant answer and an embarrassing one.
Iterators meet the daily budget
Writes are budgeted at a hundred actions per day per account with serialized, spaced calls. A scenario iterating over yesterday’s DMs cannot fire fifty replies in a minute — it gets an explicit limit error. That is the protection, since bursts are what draw attention to an account.
A realistic scenario
A new DM arrives; the scenario reads the thread and the profile, a router splits sales questions from support, and each branch drafts an answer for approval rather than sending it. Auto-replying to everything is how a brand account ends up restricted.
Watch the inbox without polling it
Make scenarios usually start on a schedule, and polling an inbox every five minutes spends the account’s budget discovering nothing changed. A realtime destination delivers a new DM to the scenario as it arrives, with the identifiers needed to read the thread — cheaper, faster, and it keeps the daily budget for the replies that matter.
“When a DM arrives, read the thread and the profile, then route sales and support.”
“Draft an answer for approval instead of replying automatically.”
Common questions
Do I need a Business or Creator account?
No. That belongs to the Graph API route; Nilyo connects the account you already use.
Can a scenario answer DMs automatically?
It can, but drafting for approval is the safer default on a public-facing inbox, and the daily budget caps volume either way.
Can it read comments and profiles?
Yes, where the connected account supports them, alongside the direct inbox.
How Instagram works with Nilyo
Connection. Secure hosted sign-in on your own Instagram account; a verification code may be requested by Instagram on the provider side, never in the chat.
What your agent can do. Direct messages (read, reply, send), profile lookup, followers and following lists, your own profile.
Pacing and safety. About 100 actions per day per account, calls serialized.
- Instagram limits new conversations with people who do not follow you; the agent says so instead of retrying.
