Add the Nilyo app in ChatGPT, or enable developer mode and add a connector with the URL https://nilyo.com/mcp and OAuth. Then connect the mailbox: give the address and the password and the servers are detected from the address — you normally never type a host or a port. Only if detection fails are you asked for them, and the authoritative place to copy them from is the account settings of the mail client you already use.
IMAP is disabled by default on Zoho
This is the single reason most first attempts fail: in Zoho Mail, IMAP access is a setting you have to enable in the mail settings before anything outside the web interface can connect. Once enabled, if two-factor authentication is on, Zoho expects an application-specific password generated in its security settings rather than your account password. And Zoho runs regional data centres, so an account created in Europe does not authenticate against the same servers as one created elsewhere — detection handles it from the address, which is why you are better off not typing servers by hand.
What it is actually good for here
Zoho users are usually running a small business from that address, so the valuable pass is commercial: which enquiries never got an answer, which quotes are still open, who wrote twice without a reply. The assistant reads the threads in order and tells you; the reply is a draft you approve.

Custom domains are the normal case here
Most Zoho Mail users are on their own domain, which is exactly the situation a Gmail-only or Outlook-only integration leaves out. The same tools cover it as they cover Gmail, so a workflow that spans a Zoho mailbox and a Gmail one is one connection each rather than one integration each.
When it stops working
Two causes cover nearly everything. The password is refused after it worked: an application password was revoked, or the mailbox password was changed — generate or update it and reconnect the same mailbox rather than adding a second one. The agent suddenly sees nothing: the session expired, and the card in the answer carries the reconnection link. A mailbox that moved host is reconnected with the new servers, not re-added, so anything referring to it keeps working.
