Add Nilyo, connect the mailbox
Add the Nilyo app in ChatGPT, or enable developer mode and add a connector with the URL https://nilyo.com/mcp and OAuth. Gmail and Microsoft 365 then connect with their own sign-in; a mailbox on OVH, Infomaniak, Ionos or a company server connects with host, port and password. After that the tools are identical whichever one you chose.
Triage is the job, not reading
“Show me my emails” is a worse version of your inbox. The useful questions are the ones that need reading everything: what arrived since yesterday that needs an answer, which threads are waiting on me, did anyone reply about the September order. That pass is tedious for a person and trivial for an assistant.

A thread, and its attachments
A single message rarely settles anything. Reading a thread returns the exchange in order, and attachments come back as files — so the answer is based on the PDF quote rather than on its filename. That is often the difference between a summary you trust and one you have to check.

Draft first, send when you mean it
Creating a draft leaves the message in your own drafts folder, where you read it and press send yourself. It is the right default while you are learning how the assistant writes, especially on a professional mailbox where a wrong send is not a private mistake. Sending exists as an explicit action when you want it.

When it does not work
Two causes cover almost everything. The password is refused: on a two-factor mailbox connected over IMAP, the host wants an application-specific password generated in its own settings, not your account password. The agent sees nothing: the mailbox session expired, and the card in the answer carries the reconnection link.
Common questions
Can ChatGPT read my email?
Once you connect the mailbox, yes: it lists, reads and searches it, and can draft or send. Gmail and Microsoft connect with their own sign-in, and any IMAP mailbox with the server details you already use.
Does it work with my company mailbox on OVH or Infomaniak?
Yes. Generic IMAP is a first-class provider rather than an afterthought, which is the gap most email integrations leave.
Why is my password refused?
Almost always two-factor authentication: the host expects an application-specific password generated in its own settings. The Google and Microsoft sign-ins avoid the question entirely.
Will it send email on its own?
Sending is an explicit action. Creating a draft is separate and is the safer default: the message waits in your own drafts folder until you send it.
Can it handle several mailboxes?
Yes. Each action names the mailbox it runs on, so one question can cross a personal box, a shared one and a client’s.
How Email works with Nilyo
