Add Nilyo, authorize the calendar
Add the Nilyo app in ChatGPT, or enable developer mode and add a connector with the URL https://nilyo.com/mcp and OAuth. Then just ask: if the calendar is not connected yet, the answer carries a card with the link, you sign in with Google or Microsoft and repeat the question. Nothing is installed and no key is stored in the client.
Ask the questions an agenda cannot answer
“What do I have tomorrow” is what your calendar app already does well. The ones worth an assistant are the ones that cross accounts: who are these people, what did we last say to them, is anything double-booked, am I actually free Thursday afternoon across both my calendars. That is the reason to connect it rather than open the tab.
“Who am I meeting tomorrow, and what do I know about them on LinkedIn?”
“Am I free Thursday afternoon across all my calendars?”
Booking is explicit, and it emails people
Creating an event sends an invitation to the attendees, so it is an action you ask for and it is never retried after an ambiguous failure — a duplicate invitation is visible to everyone you invited. Moving, cancelling and answering an invitation work the same way, because the organiser and the guests see each of them.
“Book thirty minutes with Ada on Thursday afternoon and invite her.”
Run it every morning
Once the connector is in place, a ChatGPT task can run the same prompt on a schedule: tomorrow’s meetings with a line about each external guest, or a warning when two events overlap. The reading is the same as in a live chat, and reading a calendar sends nothing, which makes it a safe thing to automate.
“Every weekday at 8, list my meetings and tell me who I do not know yet.”
When it does not work
Three causes cover it. The tools do not appear: the conversation predates the connector, so start a new chat. It says it cannot see your calendar: the account is disconnected and the card in the answer has the reconnection link. It books into the wrong calendar: several are connected, so name the one you mean — calendars are selected by id, not by the label you see.
Common questions
Can ChatGPT see my Google Calendar?
Not by itself. Once you connect the calendar through Nilyo, it reads your calendars and events, and can create, move, cancel or answer events when you ask.
Does it work with Outlook too?
Yes, Microsoft and Google calendars use the same tools, so a week split across both is answered in one question.
Will it book something without asking?
No. Creating or changing an event is an explicit action, and because attendees are notified it is never retried after an ambiguous failure.
Can it prepare a meeting with context from my other accounts?
Yes, that is where it earns its place: the guests from the event, their LinkedIn profile, your last emails or messages with them, in one answer.
How Calendar works with Nilyo
Connection. Included with a Google or Microsoft sign-in: one identity gives email and calendar and counts as one account.
What your agent can do. Calendars, events in a date range, creating, updating, cancelling and restoring events, RSVPs.
Pacing and safety. No local budget.
- Combine with LinkedIn and email for meeting briefs: attendees are matched to profiles and past conversations.
